Orienteering with Map and Compass
Saturday, March 4th from 8:30am to 3:00pm
Would you be able to find your way without a cellphone? Before cell towers we relied upon the lost art of reading a compass and topographical map. Join us for a two part workshop where you will not only learn these skills, but have the opportunity to put them to the test. In the morning we will be in the classroom covering basic topographic map skills such as contour lines, symbols and scale as well as using a compass, latitude and longitude, declination and taking a bearing. In the afternoon we will venture out into the greater Denver area and apply what you learned. Never be lost without Google Maps again.
Bring a lunch or money to buy. Maps and compasses will be provided but feel free to bring your own compass if you have one.
